A delegation from China's largest peace organisation, the Chinese People's Association for Peace and Disarmament (CPAPD), met with Australasian peace movement representatives in Wellington on Tuesday.

CPAPD secretary general Mr Zhu Rui said that the visit would develop cooperation between the peace movements in the region and encourage the exchange of ideas.

"We are convinced that the upcoming visit will further promote the traditional friendship between the peoples of our two countries," he said.

The CPAPD was founded in 1985, and aims to promote the maintenance of world peace, oppose arms race and war, lobby for arms control and disarmament, and promote social harmony, ecological protection and sustainable development.
