CICD condemns proposed US strikes upon Syria

We, the members of the Committee on behalf of the Campaign for International Co-operation and Disarmament, (CICD), raise our collective voices against the threat by the United States to step up their war against the Syrian people.

There is absolutely no evidence or confirmation that the Assad Government carried out the alleged chemical attack. Even if there were evidence, the US Government has no authority to be the self-appointed policeman.

Stop the War in the Middle East

We, the members of the Committee on behalf of the Campaign for International Co-operation and Disarmament, (CICD), raise our collective voices against the ongoing war in the Middle East.

We believe that wars and militarism make us less safe rather than protect us, at war people are killed, injured and traumatized.

A major motivation behind most wars is the desire to control resources that poison the earth, especially oil and gas.

Call to support the Peace & Planet Mobilization

We the Committee of the Campaign for International Co-operation and Disarmament (CICD) are calling on governments to end the threat of nuclear weapons by negotiating for their complete prohibition and elimination.

We are endorsing and support the call by the Peace & Planet Mobilization for a Nuclear-Free, Peaceful, Just, and Sustainable World.

Nuclear weapons are the most destructive, inhumane and harmful weapons ever created.

The world today is torn by imperialist wars and threats of war. We would like to see a secure and liveable world for future generations. A world free of nuclear weapons and a safe and clean environment.

Chinese Peace NGO Visits Australasia

A delegation from China's largest peace organisation, the Chinese People's Association for Peace and Disarmament (CPAPD), met with Australasian peace movement representatives in Wellington on Tuesday.

CPAPD secretary general Mr Zhu Rui said that the visit would develop cooperation between the peace movements in the region and encourage the exchange of ideas.

"We are convinced that the upcoming visit will further promote the traditional friendship between the peoples of our two countries," he said.

Commemorations for US Nuke Attack on Japan held in Melbourne

Melbourne commemorations for the 70th Anniversary of the United States' nuclear attacks upon Imperial Japan, which concluded the Allies victory in the Second World War, began last night at Trades Hall in Carlton.

A ceremony was held at the opening night of an exhibition of photographs covering the aftermath of the atomic bomb explosions in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, hosted by the Campaign for International Co-Operation and Disarmament. The photographs were collected by the Atomic Photographers Guild, and includes pictures shot by Japanese and foreign photographers.
