CICD 50th Anniversary
In November 2009 CICD will celebrate 50 years of active campaigning on peace and nuclear disarmament – quite a milestone!
We'd like to invite you to celebrate this with us at our anniversary function.

The speaker at the function is Assoc Prof Tilman Ruff, a CICD Vice-President and chair of ICAN Australia. Tilman is also an advisor to the Rudd Government's initiative the International Commission on Non Proliferation and Disarmament, and Board member of the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War. Tilman will talk about the progress of national and international campaigns to abolish nuclear weapons.

Life is getting worse for ordinary Afghans, life expectancy is now only 43 years, adult literacy is just 24% and the UN estimates that 4654 civilians have died since January 2007. 65% of Australians oppose sending more troops, and 51% oppose the war. Meanwhile the governments of the world are planning to send more troops to prop up this failed war.

Rally is being held during an international month of action against the war on Afghanistan.
